Starlink Mini is a compact, portable kit that can easily fit in a backpack, designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet on the go.

Acquisition
I purchased the Starlink Mini during the January 2025 regional discount, this reduced the purchase price to $299 from what was the normal $599 the months before and after (at least).
This technology is just amazing and I just had to own it. The idea of talking to satellites in the middle of nowhere, to have full internet service is just amazing.
With no plan to use it on a daily basis, my intention was to use it for remote camping (never any more than four weeks a year), and to loan to family and friends (maybe friends of friends).
Equipment Hire
I want to see this hardware be used, but I will ask for the assistance to maintain this hardware for use, for example purchasing the a newer version in the distance future.
Hire rate | $1/day |
I’ve decided on this amount with the thought of 300 days of use, means it’s paid itself off, which over a few years will mean I can buy the latest version if needed.
What Do You Need To Know
Below are the details of this equipment, and things I’ve learnt you might need to know to loan it.
Plans
Roaming plans are best for RVs, nomads, campers, and working on the go compared to residential that is best for households that works on a fixed location
Roam 5GB | $15/month |
Roam 50GB | $80/month |
Roam Unlimited | $195/month |
- Billing is a calendar month (1st of the month) billed to the end of the month.
- If reactivating later in the month, the plan amount and data is prorated to the end of the month.
- Using beyond the end of the month will incur a full month charge, unless I can split the loan with someone else to negotiate unused time/data.
- Non unlimited plans can purchase more data at $3.00 per GB.
Roam Plan Key Features
- Countrywide Coverage
- In-motion Use
